2006 – Present
For the past four years I have been working primarily as a freelancer (with short-term stops at some great agencies along the way). I’ve been writing everything from blog posts, web copy, headlines and have recently been consulting on screenwriting projects.
In 2011 I got to do something I’ve always dreamed of! I was hired as the head writer for a late night talk show broadcast online. As a long time fan of the late night format I was in my glory writing monologue jokes, sketches and questions for the show’s guests.
Copywriter- Fuel Advertising, Toronto, Ontario
2007 – 2008
Upon returning from living and working overseas I worked with this agency which was created specifically to service one of Canada’s largest retailers, The Hudson Bay Company. I wrote technical, web and promotional copy for all the products you would find in a department store.
Copywriter- Batey RedCell, Singapore
2005 – 2006
After doing my internship I began sending out my portfolio looking for work. I was delighted to be contacted by this multinational agency headquartered in Singapore. I was even more delighted when they offered to relocate me and put me up while I wrote for one of the world’s most recognizable brands, Mercedes-Benz! The whole experience, both professionally and personally, was irreplaceable and one that changed me as a writer and as a person.
Copywriter- Push, Calgary, Alberta
2004 – 2005
After college, and many late nights putting together my first portfolio, I met with a great agency that offered to take me in. Of all the good fortune I’ve had in my career, this opportunity is right at the top. Working in a smaller agency gave me unlimited access to brilliant creative professionals, and I learned lessons I apply to this day.
Creative Director- Niagara Falls Humane Society
2002 – 2004
This position started as an internship and continued after I graduated. Working with a non-profit that had no budget, actually gave me the opportunity to take the lead on all marketing endeavors. Starting with no consistent donations and only paper receipts of past donors, I created a long term program that recruited donors willing to give consistent funds to further this great cause!
